About Barn Homes

Our properties are unique both in their Casco Bay Peninsula location with ocean access and their construction with historic timberframes rescued from antique barns.  Known in Europe as self catering accommodations, these properties are fully equipped with sheets, towels, cable TV, wireless internet, gas grilles, even a canoe and blenders (not to be used before the canoe…).  Bring your toothbrush and you are all set!

Our location is an easy day trip to many wonderful destinations: Penobscot Bay (1.5 hours), Acadia National Park (2 hours), the White Mountains of New Hampshire (1.5 hours), Portland (30 minutes), Boston (2 hours).  We are within 15 minutes of several state parks (Winslow, Wolfe’s Neck Woods, and Bradbury Mountain.  We are within 45 minutes of the largest beaches in Maine (Reid State Park, Old Orchard Beach).  Of course, for the rainy days, there is still all of the shopping in Freeport!  Though we are only 5 miles from LL Bean, you will feel a million miles away.   Our many repeat visitors from all over the world are a testament to how convenient yet relaxing our properties are.

Welcome! Thanks for visiting our site. Barn Homes consists of two new, modern homes built using the 150 year old timber frames from barns. These homes are fully winterized and feature all the modern amenities and are fully equipped including sheets and towels, cookware, even blenders, stereos, TVs and VCRs. They are located 1 mile out on Flying Point, a 2 mile long penninsula jutting out into Casco Bay, located in Freeport, Maine. 44 Byram is located about 300 feet from the water and is 11 years old, and 40 Byram is about 500 feet from the water and is 9 years old. Several rights of way exist to the ocean from these residences.

Both buildings are super insulated, which makes them both energy efficient and extremely quiet. The location is a country neighborhood setting, with teriffic bike riding, walking and running right out of the door. Located about 4 miles from down town Freeport, they are far from the hustle and bustle. The roads that lead you to these homes are lined with woods, farms and fields, as well as homes. Once you are here, you really do feel like you are away from the “city”. They are conidered to be in the Portland Maine region, and are convenient to Freeport Maine shopping – LL Bean and all. Only 4 miles from the Harraseeket River (Freeport Harbor) with many other well known Maine coast locations nearby, including Orrs Island, Bailey Island, Boothbay Harbor, Penobscot Bay, Bar Harbor and others. The White Mountains of New Hampshire are only 1.5 hours away, and Boston is only 2 hours away. Visitors often fly into Boston, Manchester NH or Portland Maine airports.

Though these buildings are fully furnished and equipped, they may be rented empty for long term leases. Pets are negotiable on a case by case basis.
